Signage system and graphic design project for a new local library in the Almeda neighbourhood of Cornellà de Llobregat, Barcelona.
We based our signage system on one of the most visible and defining materials used in its architecture and furniture: plywood. We devised a system of solid three dimensional letters and plywood boards with cut out lettering both fronted with contrasting white or wooden panels to give them visibility while staying in harmony with their elegant surroundings. On the concrete columns we placed wooden directional arrows and for the graphic elements such as the Children's Area we continued with plywood, creating geometric animals. This material wouldn't withstand the demands of exterior street level signage so vinyl lettering was used.
